Drake, Kendrick Lamar And Cardi B Included In BET Awards Nominations

This year’s list nominees for the BET Awards sounds and looks exactly how you would expect.

If you have listened to the radio, watched television, or been on social media for the last year, you already have an idea who is nominated for BET Awards.

But, even though the names look very familiar and damn near identical to ones from years prior, the competition actually looks interesting. Of course, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist the Year is always an eye catcher. This year is no different as Drake, Future, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Chance The Rapper and Big Sean are on the list.

But this, year the usually predictable Best Female Hip-Hop Artist the Year is one to keep an eye on. In prior years the award has easily been handed over to Nicki Minaj. But in 2017, Nicki wasn’t the only woman making real noise on the mic. This year she is joined by Young M.A., Missy Elliot, Remy Ma and in a surprise, Cardi B. This could be the first time that we’ve seen a rapper who got popular from a reality show actually get taken seriously.

Cardi B also seemed to be surprised and expressed her joy in an almost NSFW social media post.

The Best Movie award looks like it will be fun to watch as well. We have history pieces like Hidden Figures and Birth Of A Nation going against Oscar Award-winning films Fences and Moonlight with instant hood favorite Get Out in the running as well.
